Abstract

The study analyses Israeli Justice Minister Yariv Levin's proposal for judicial reform. The aim of this reform is to limit the power of the Supreme Court in Israel in favour of the executive branch, i.e. the Knesset and the current government.

The study presents the most important points of this reform and describes the polarized reactions of the Israeli public. It suggests that behind the reform, as well as behind the recent Shield and Arrow military operation in Gaza, may lie an effort by government officials to make it more difficult to investigate cases in which they themselves are implicated.
