Abstract

Influenza is an infectious disease that affects all age groups of the population every year. The disease can present as a mild respiratory infection or as a serious illness requiring hospitalisation, with possible complications and sequelae or death not only in the elderly or chronically ill but also in young healthy persons.

The most effective prevention of influenza and its complications is vaccination. Influenza vaccination is also important in preventing the occurrence of acute myocardial infarction or stroke.
