The paper comments on the long-term absence of a focus on word formation in the 1st grade of basic school. It emphasises the need to work with younger pupils in the area of word formation in order to teach pupils to look for semantic and formal relationships between words, thus enabling them to understand the stratification of vocabulary for its functional use in communication
