Abstract

The text is devoted to the analysis of the quality of life of the elderly in the homes for the elderly in the period of the pandemic Covid - 19.

The starting point is the analysis of the offer of leisure activities and their implementation.

The aim of the survey was to analyse the offer of leisure and educational activities for clients from a specific home with a special regime.

These activities are important sources of promoting self-sufficiency/independence, which significantly affects the psychological balance and well-being of the client (The variety of activities that clients of these institutions can engage in contribute significantly to improving the quality of life. The evaluation of the offer also includes monitoring client/family preferences for particular activities- and satisfaction with the variety of activities on offer. The analysis of activities was complemented by an evaluation of the implementation of activities during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The analysis of the activities showed a standard range of activities commonly encountered in homes for the elderly, but an alarming finding was the significant reduction of these activities during the quarantine period due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Client care shifted to the level of basic health and hygiene care during the period under review, which significantly reduced the quality of life of the elderly.

It was also found that social interactions between the elderly and their family were significantly reduced during the pandemic, lasting 9 months.
