Abstract
The plenary (Keynote) lecture of the ProfiLingua 2023 conference critically analyses the relationship between innovation and the world of education, especially language education. Drawing on French sources, it refines the notion of "innovation", shows why innovation (doesn't) work, and proposes meaningful innovations for the future.
