Abstract

In September of this year, exactly 100 years have passed since Prof. MD Josef Janků published his globally significant medical discovery - the discovery of retinal disease caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii.

It is certainly appropriate to remember this important ophthalmologist and the first head of the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of the Hygienic UK (today the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of the UK) and the hospital in Královské Vinohrady.
