From an early age, a healthy child responds spontaneously to music by moving. The perception of rhythm and the child's immediate movement response to music are natural activities for the child.
The use of songs helps to develop the child's cognitive, communicative, physical-motor and social-emotional skills. Songs can be seen as a universal means of developing a wide range of his/her learning needs.
The chapter discusses the importance of applying songs in music education in the context of the child's holistic development and translates themes into music education practices focusing on children's rhythmic and musical movement skills.
