Abstract
The lecture discusses the ritual of kambo, which originated in the Amazon and has spread worldwide due to the popularity of contemporary shamanism associated with the New Age Movement. We are witnessing an increase in psychotherapeutic methods with religious overtones, with the idea of revitalizing healing based on spiritual beliefs.
The need to heal and cultivate oneself continues to grow, along with the interest in kambo, the secretion of the Phyllomedusa bicolor frog. How does the kambo ritual differ in its indigenous Matsés ethnic homeland, and how does it unfold in modern Euro-American society?
