At the End of the End of History, a War for a new World Order

Abstract

The article is a philosophical reflection on the Russian aggression in Ukraine. The author deals with the special nature of organized evil represented by the current Russian regime and its military machinery.

In a polemic with the thesis about the global victorious campaign of Western liberal democracy and welfare society, as it was advocated e. g. by Francis Fukuyama, he then shows that the aggression against Ukraine is only the culmination of the long-term efforts of neo-totalitarian regimes to build a so-called new world order, which would be an alternative to the world order based on human rights and international law. At the same time, the author draws attention to the failure of Western democratic countries in the global political competition for the future world order and puts forward the thesis that the Russian aggression in Ukraine marks a turning point, insofar as it leads to a definitive awakening from the dream of the end of history.
