Migration background and homosexual identity - two major phenomena in literature, the combination of which is not only about coming to terms with oneʼs own homosexuality, but the origin with the family background also plays a decisive role in the development of identity. Using the example of the depicted Turkish family concept in the novels Hochzeitsflug and Wunschplatane, the impact of traditions and customs on the lives of the retrospectively narrating protagonists is made clear.
The typical images of masculinity that have shaped the ways of thinking and behaving of the characters and their families for generations are presented, the traditions that are at the center of the action and thus form the main conflict of the narrative.
