Abstract

The history of Czech immunology features excellent scientists who contributed to the comprehension of the immune system despite the restrictions by the communist regime, such as Milan Hasek (immunological tolerance), Jan Klein (immunogenetics), Jaroslav Sterzl (gnotobiology), and others. At present, Charles University, the largest Czech university, offers master's and doctoral programs dedicated solely to immunology in Prague, thus creating a potential for initiatives and extracurricular activities for students with a shared passion for immunology.

There are currently also possibilities to perform immunological research in other places in the Czech Republic, such as Brno, Olomouc, Ostrava, České Budějovice, Plzeň, or Nový Hrádek.
