Retention and stability in orthodontic treatment

Abstract

This textbook deals with the topic of retention and stability after orthodontic treatment, a topic which has not been thoroughly addressed yet in Czech scientific literature. The main goal of this book is to describe the biological basis of orthodontic relapse and the main factors related to the short- and long-term stability after orthodontic treatment, describe the most frequently used removable and fixed retention devices and also retention protocols.

Book is recommended to specialists in the field of orthodontics and students in postgraduate orthodontic training. However, it will be also very useful to pregraduate dentistry students, practicing dentists or hygienists, who will encounter this issue in their patients in every day practice as well.

The author of this book is an assistant professor at the Department of Orthodontics, First Medical Faculty of Charles University and General hospital in Prague, and as a lecturer at Palacky Univ ersity in Olomouc. The topic ofretention and stability of orthodontic treatment are his main are a of scientific interest.

The author has published in peer-reviewed and impact factor scientific journals on this topic , he is also an author of 4 textbook chapters, in Czech Republic and abroad.
