Current use of fecal microbiota transfer in patients with hematologic diseases: a survey on behalf of the Cellular Therapy and Immunobiology Working Party of the EBMT

Abstrakt
This survey highlights the existence of important differences in activities between centers in different countries and an increase in FMT use over the last few years, with the highest numbers of FMTs reported in 2021. Importantly, a high number of FMTs were performed to eradicate MDRB.
The latter represents life-threatening situations with high mortality and an important economic burden, emphasizing the urgent need to explore novel therapeutic strategies to eradicate MDRB. Gut GVHD was also an important indication for FMT.
In fact, FMT shows promising results in gut GVHD, and our survey confirms the interest of the hematologic community in this approach and thus, the need to further improve its use in this setting.
