Abstract

The conference paper examined the ways in which small towns in the Czech lands were (re)invented in diverse intellectual frameworks, namely in debates on provincial culture, heritage and new estetic sensitivity to historic landscape, sociology of small towns, planning and territorial develepment, and the movement of regionalism, and, loking at a particular example, how they (re)invented their urbanity in the novel context of organic modernity and the emergence of Czechoslovak state.
