Abstract
The chapter deals with the integration of East German population into unified Germany after 1990. It perceives this integration not only as a unilateral post-communist transformation of East Germany catching up to West German standards, but as a two-sided asymmetric process in which even East Germany and its population influenced the transformation of Germany as a whole.
