Abstract

The publication presents a set of four studies, the common theme of which is the integration of minorities into German society from the second half of the 20th century to the present. The book examines the integration of the 12 million Germans displaced from Central and Eastern Europe after World War II, then the political integration of left-wing radicals and protest movements that gave rise to the Green Party and the development of German civil society.

Furthermore, attention is paid to the effects of German reunification, namely the integration of the inhabitants of the former East Germany into the Federal Republic of Germany. The book concludes with a study of the integration policy in Berlin in the last few decades.
