Abstract

The Mediterranean is the world's most important tourism region. In the article, it is defined differently from world statistics, as the area of countries washed by the Mediterranean Sea.

The area where 6.7% of the planet's population lives is visited by 27% of the world's international tourism participants, which brings financial resources to the countries concerned, but also a number of environmental, socio-cultural and economic problems.
