Analysis of map projections of world maps in planisphere / hemispheres in time

Abstract

The contribution dealt with the analysis and statistical evaluation of the use of cartographic representations for historical world maps in the planisphere/hemispheres. The analyzed maps included covered the interval from Ancient times to the end of the 20th century, with the evaluation period of 50 years.

Approximately 2000 maps were analyzed as part of the research. The outputs were presented in the form of graphs, cartograms and cartodiagrams.
