The aim of the methodology is to identify localities of segregation and evaluate them in terms of the degree of segregation. The purpose of identifying localities of segregation is to focus public policies on mitigating the effects of segregation, desegregation and prevention of segregation in such identified areas.
The methodology defines the target population concerned by the risks of residential segregation as the persons jointly assessed for the provision of the subsistence allowance (SPO PNZ). It analyses data on the SPO PNZ at the level of the basic settlement units.
The output of the assessment is the localities of segregation and their types in terms of severity of segregation. The main contribution is a standardized, repeatable segregation assessment based on a unique dataset of livelihood allowance recipients, processed in great spatial detail and presented through online mapping and data applications.
