Foreskin cysts in children

Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2023

Abstract

The authors present a retrospective clinical group analysis of 6 boys with foreskin cysts. They were operated on in our department in 2017-2022.

The boys' age was 2-11 years (median 5 years) at the time of diagnosis. All boys underwent excision of a foreskin cystic lesion measuring 5-22 mm (median 6.5 mm).

Histological examination of the excised tissue confirmed several benign cysts in all cases (2x mucoid cysts with cylindrical epithelium, or cuboidal epithelium, 2x epidermoid cysts, 2x simple cysts with cylindrical, or transitional epithelium). The clinical, functional, and cosmetic results of the surgery were good for all boys.

The postoperative healing was uncomplicated for all boys. No further surgical treatment was required.

At the postoperative outpatient follow--up, all boys were healed and they could be discharged from further clinical follow--up.
