Abstract
The paper presents the Mediterranean region in the context of the evolution of the Earth's landscape since the Mesozoic era and describes the changes of the surface and environment. The paper is focused especially on those geomorphological processes that reflect plate tectonics.
The major manifestations of volcanic and earthquake activities and tsunamis that will continue to form the environment in the future, are presented.
