Review of book: Petr Hrachovec, Die Zittauer und ihre Kirchen (1300-1600). Zum Wandel religiöser Stiftungen während der Reformation

Abstract

A review of a voluminous book devoted to the ecclesiastical and religious conditions in Zittau, an important town in Upper Lusatia, one of the crown lands of the Bohemian Kingdom. The author focuses on the pious foundations existing in the town at the end of the Middle Ages and their fate after the onset of the European Reformation.

The book is a very good treatment of the extensive source material, and the review appreciates the importance of this research.
