Abstract

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a serious microvascular complication of diabetes and, together with diabetic macular edema (DME), causes a significant deterioration of visual acuity. Diabetic retinopathy and DME are considered the most common cause of severe vision loss in the working-age population.
