Abstract

In this chapter deals with Egon Erwin Kisch's diary entries during the World War I are interpreted by analysing Kisch's letters from the period 1914-18. The diary texts are in great discrepancy to the official war reporting.

This diary, published in book form without additional entries, presents the authentic experiences of the soldier E. E.

Kisch, who was an eyewitness to the war events. What is important here is the individual experience combined with individual emotions and statements.

The basic tone of the diary descriptions is ultimately pacifistic.
