Literacy is a central focus of primary education and a fundamental requirement for engagement in the wider educational context. Since current society is being impacted by technologies, more efficient teaching methods are required for such significant subjects.
Mobile learning (m-learning) appears to be a rapidly expanding area for education, however, it has not yet reached its full potential. For that reason, the aim of the proposed study is to explore the effect of mobile technologies on early reading literacy skills improvement and motivation increase in primary education.
More specifically, the study seeks to examine in particular the students' progress over long-term observation periods using portable devices at school. This research is still in its early stages, and initial findings are drawn from a thorough review of relevant studies.
The data analysis suggests that mobile devices have the potential to enhance students' reading fluency and comprehension, creating an enriching learning environment to be actively engaged and interested in the educational process.
