Editorial: Design of two-dimensional functional materials and nanodevices

Abstract

Two-dimensional (2D) materials and their heterostructures have attracted much attention in the fields of sensors, spintronic devices, thermoelectricity, battery, catalysis, photocatalysis, and optoelectronic devices due to their outstanding physical and chemical properties. In this Research Topic, entitled Design of two-dimensional functional materials and nanodevices, we collected a total of 17 articles reporting on the recent advances of 2D materials, heterostructures and materials with exotic topological and spintronic properties.

Below, we provide a summary and research highlights on these exciting works.
