Abstract

The collective monograph Current issues of research in the history and culture of Eastern Europe is devoted in eight chapters to selected areas of Czech and Slovak research on the history and culture of Eastern Europe in relation to the Czech or Czechoslovakian historical space. It recalls its long-standing tradition, which, however, requires a critical evaluation in both a methodological and a thematic sense.

He emphasizes that it is necessary to use modern historiographical methods used abroad. At the same time, he draws attention to the importance of the Czech (and in the interwar Czechoslovak) historical experience.

The chapter is devoted to the reflection of the Prague Spring and the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia in Russian historiography and the public and politics.
