Abstract

This article focuses on the impact of social media on mental health of children and adolescents. The use of social media has become an integral part of our lives and can have a significant impact on our mental well-being.

The article reviews a number of studies and meta-analyses that examine the positive and negative mechanisms of social media on children and adolescents' mental health. Findings suggest that social media use may be associated with negative effects such as depression, anxiety and reduced life satisfaction in selected popu-lations.

However, some studies also show that social media can also have a positive impact on mental health. The article also discusses cultural and gender differences in the effects of social media on mental health.

Limitations of existing studies are also highlighted and possible directions for further research are suggested.
