Abstract

The lecture deals with the activities of educated personalities at the court of the Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV (1346-1378) and their contribution to the political, social and cultural life of the court. First of all, it concerns Charles IV himself, then the advisors and politicians Archbishop Arnošt of Pardubice and the court chancellor and Bishop Jan of Středa, bishop of Litomyšl, later Olomouc, and the activities of university pofessors and other scholars at court, whether as advisors, diplomats, autors of educational writings or personal physicians.
