The theoretical starting points, the structure of the material and the possibilities of using diagnostic tools were presented, in which a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis of literacy skills in children of younger school age is projected (from the prerequisites for the development of reading literacy, through decoding and understanding of texts to reading self-concept and environmental influences that develop literacy skills).
