Abstract

Photosensitivity refers to an abnormal reaction of tissues when exposed to sunlight. Illness behind the emergence of photosensitivity reactions are called photodermatosis.

It is necessary to think about photosensitivity wherever, during a short stay in the sun, a quick burn occurs, the appearance of intense pruritus or the appearance of an exanthema - usually only in the sun-exposed locations. Photodermatoses are divided into phototoxic, photoallergic, immunological, genetic and metabolic.

Light-aggravated dermatoses are also included. Protection from light is the main preventive measure: modification of behavior, wearing clothes, sunscreens, or systemic photoprotection.
