The Czech Republic is one of the last countries in the European Union that has not banned corporal punishment of children, and no such legislative measure has yet been proposed. The paper aims to present the conclusions not only of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, which periodically calls on the Czech Republic to adopt such a measure.
The paper also discusses the decision of the European Committee of Social Rights, which ruled that the Czech Republic's current practice violates the European Social Charter. At the same time, the paper presents the efforts made in the last few years to prepare a legislative ban on corporal punishment of children in the Czech Republic.
