Self-determination theory provides a comprehensive and integrative framework for understanding motivation in sport. Along with other theoretical models and concepts that relate to self-concept, they serve to understand how a certain type of motivational factor contributes to the resulting behavior in sport. The monograph contains empirical studies, the main goal of which is to verify the relationship of context-specific motivation in sports to global self-esteem.
The book is intended for researchers, sports psychologists, coaches, but also teachers and students of physical education, as well as all athletes who are interested in a closer understanding of the function of motivation in sports.
