Primary progressive aphasia

Publication at Third Faculty of Medicine, Central Library of Charles University |
2023

Abstract

Primary progressive aphasia (PPA) occurs as a result of selective neurodegenerative impairment preferentially in the speech areas of the dominant hemisphere. Pathological processes lead to disruption of the complex language network in the brain, located mainly in the cerebral cortex, but also with significant involvement of subcortical structures.

The publication clearly summarizes the clinical picture of the main variants of PPA as well as the diagnostic procedure using tests available in the Czech Republic.
