The article presents a selection of interesting basic research, particularly the importance of microglia in chronic pain, new recommendations to optimize and accelerate the development of "precision" treatments for chronic pain, IASP recommendations for the year of integrative medicine, which was 2023. Also of note is alcohol-induced mechanical allodynia, where chronic alcohol consumption can make people more sensitive to pain through two different molecular mechanisms.
