Abstract

Early detection of population at risk to develop psychotic disorders and effective measures to prevent transition to full-blown illness have been in the spotlight of psychiatric research and clinical management in recent years. Based on our understanding of the neurodevelopment and neuropathology of schizophrenia, timely intervention in the 'window of opportunity' during the prodromal phase can improve the course and outcome of the illness.
