Abstract

The relationship between religion and spirituality and mental health is still a current topic both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The text presents the basic areas in which religion and spirituality are related to mental health based on the World Health Organization?s definition of mental health.

This is mainly the connection between religion and spirituality and stress and its management, the individual?s ability to learn and thrive, mental disorders and especially the relational level, which is considered the most important. The text talks about three relational levels: transcendent, intrapsychic and interpsychic.

It follows that it is important to identify with individual internal components of religion and spirituality and not only with membership or personal. Therefore, the text mentions the specifics of using the ESI - Expression of Spirituality Inventory (revised edition) and Brief Multidimensional Measure of Religiousness/ Spirituality (BMMRS) methods.
