The Optional Protocol to the UN Convention Against Torture as a new element of the international system for the protection of human rights.

Abstract
The new Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture entered into force in June 2006. With regard to the interaction of the international and national level of protection the Protocol is a new element in the international system of human rights.
The goal of the article is to evaluate the impact of the Optional Protocol from the perspective of international human rights instruments, as well as from the perspective of implementation of obligations into the legal order of the Czech Republic.
