We conclude that LF impairment in PCD may occur already in first year of life. Up to 40% of infants at the age of 8 months exhibit various LF deficits, predominantly peripheral airway obstruction, ventilation inhomogeneity and lung hyperinflation.
The early onset of lung disease highlights the need for timely diagnosis of PCD and early initiation of effective treatment. Infant pulmonary function testing may contribute to the management of PCD.
