Jan Kříženecký's Moving Images or The Czech Cinematographer as a Challenge for Exhibition Practice

Abstract

The study examines Jan Kříženecký's films from the perspective of media archaeology, German media philosophy and curatorial studies. It focuses on early film as a phenomenon that first became part of industrial exhibitions and only afterwards expanded into cultural and artistic circles.

It traces Jan Kříženecký's films in particular as "exhibits" at these exhibitions and shows, and the ways in which they are presented, received and promoted.
