Much attention has been given to word problems (WPs) in mathematics literature. The interest was motivated by their significance in fostering pupils' knowledge and the challenges these tasks present.
In Kosovo, WPs are not widely used and present a serious difficulty for pupils. Thus, we prepared an intervention emphasising visual representations and the support of pupils' metacognition.
The poster will present a pilot case study with three 8th grade pupils of Kosovo. It aimed to see whether the SIMPLE strategy helped the pupils solve WPs and pilot the main intervention study.
