Determinants of success and failure among convicts participating in Risk-Oriented Offender Treatment programmes (ROOT '20)
Abstract
The comprehensive research report presents the key results of the entire project, organized into four chapters. The first chapter summarizes the research methods and describes their implementation.
The second chapter presents the main findings of the analysis of prospective and retrospective data on ROOT program participants, focusing on the issue of program non-completion or low success rates. This is explored in relation to significant risk and protective factors, along with the correlation to the likelihood of subsequent conditional release and later recidivism.
The third chapter addresses the identified problems and challenges in involving convicts in programs and working with them throughout the process. It provides proposed strategies to confront or at least reduce these challenges.
The fourth chapter introduces a set of quantitative indicators that we recommend for systematic collection about ROOT program participants.
