Abstract

We will present the publication Creative Education for a Sustainable Future: methodological inspirations of the Education for the Future project. Education is seen as the key to change towards sustainability but we know that learning the facts is not enough.

It does not lead to behavioural change and subsequent social change. A more holistic education that engages the affective, psychomotor and cognitive domains is key to developing the imagination, motivation and commitment necessary for a sustainable future.

This presentation describes a pedagogical approach that engages all domains of learning. The Education for the Future project therefore explored how creative learning can enhance education for sustainability.

The presentation of the class project within the methodology illustrates the development of competences for sustainability, which include systems thinking, self-awareness, critical thinking, collaboration and the ability to understand norms and values, imagination and self-concept of students as agents of change.
