Abstract

This article provides an overview of two recent significant events in the field of medieval studies: the "Medieval Explorations" workshop at the University of St. Andrews (May 23-25, 2023) and the "Medieval Studies in the Digital World" conference at the University of Bergen (June 19-23, 2023).

Both events offered a platform for the exchange of knowledge and presentation of research among medievalists from various disciplines, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches and digital humanities. The workshop at St.

Andrews focused on five main sections, including vernacular and visual history, while the conference in Bergen concentrated on the application of digital tools and methods in the interpretation of medieval texts. Key aspects such as the creation of digital catalogs, challenges associated with databases, and the development of scholarly digital editions were highlighted.

The events also included workshops on topics such as digital editions, linguistic metadata, and the cataloging of manuscripts.
