Abstract
The article presents a unique summary of the most important sources of new idioms in Czech during the last thirty years. These are quotations taken from films, social networks, statements of politicians or journalists.
A different form of phrase- mes can also arise from the contamination of already existing phrasemes, a shift in meaning is used for historical terms that are transferred to contemporary events. Among the freshest candidates for phrasemes are expressions created in connection with the epidemic of covid.
Potential phrasemes ap- pearing in Czech after 1990 were selected to illustrate each type of source. Using corpora of written and spoken Czech, the evolution of their use, emergence, spread or disappearance is traced
