The Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2023 once again aimed at the border between chemistry and physics. It was awarded to three scientists, who stood at the birth and development of research into nanometer semiconductor crystals called quantum dots:
A. I. Yekimov, L. Brus and M. Bawendi. In this post, we will show why nanocrystals are interesting and what are their uses. We will also briefly describe the history of this field and the Czechoslovak footprint in it.
