Abstract
In the lecture, intended for foreign participants of the 56th Summer School of Slavic (Bohemian) Studies in Brno, the author dealt with the classification of Czech pranostics and outlined their place both in the teaching of Czech to foreigners and in the everyday communication of native and non-native Czech speakers. He also drew attention to the fact that the use of pranostics, especially agricultural ones, in communication is decreasing, due to many social and natural (ecological) reasons.
