Abstract
The chapter expertly discusses all 13 Czech translations of Martinique, Guadeloupe, Haitian and Guyanese literature. The poetry of the Caribbean has been published in Czech since 1923, both as a book and as a magazine.
The stylistic choice between literary and colloquial Czech is complicated in Caribbean literature by the presence of the Creole language, which also gives rise to original literary poetics.
