Abstract

Monodrama "Alma Rosé" with accompaniment of women's string quartet.

This is an original theatre production by a contemporary Polish author on a historical theme, in which music is an integral part of the theatrical story, and the female performers have their own roles in the drama.

It is neither a concert nor an accompaniment.

Outside the home stage, the work is adapted to suit the venue and the event, and some performances include moderated debates with former Minister of Culture Mgr. Daniel Herman and a direct Holocaust survivor, RNDr. Michaela Vidláková roz. Lauscherová (87 years old, Terezín).

Alma's story raises many questions and clearly has great pedagogical potential, especially in secondary schools. The play can serve well in pedagogical practice as a basis for project-based education with many overlaps into history, philosophy, political geography, etc. And it has a strong overlap with the deeply human.

The above work also served for an award-winning undergraduate thesis in the Department of Music Education.

In her thesis, the author drew on foreign language literature and in a very mature way was able to juxtapose two branches of secondary literature and argue why she leans more towards one of them. She also successfully incorporated a contemporary play about Alma Rosé into her work, and conducted a research interview with Alma's character and the play's director.

The story of the outstanding violinist Alma Rosé, who has performed on the stages of the greatest concert halls in Europe. In 1943, because of her Jewish background, she was interned at Auschwitz, where she became conductor of the women's camp orchestra.
