Abstract
In the course of the lecture, the role of phraseology in communication was defined, with regard to foreigners who study the Czech language at the university. The author presented the types of idioms, referring to the theoretical understanding of the issue by Prof.
František Čermák. Above all, he focused on the use of idioms in the communication of non-native speakers of various levels of Czech language proficiency.
At the end, he also presented language-didactic recommendations for teaching Czech to foreigners at various levels.
